Hope Allied Health Services is seeking experienced Speech Pathologists across Australia to provide mobile and telehealth services on an independent contractor basis.

We deliver telehealth services to clients living in metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Australia. We can also offer face-to-face referrals in and around the successful applicant’s local area, allowing contractors to provide mobile services without relocating or travelling outside their nominated service region.

This opportunity is ideal for Speech Pathologists seeking professional autonomy, flexible working arrangements and control over their caseload.

About the Opportunity

Contractors can nominate their preferred:

• Days and hours of availability.
• Geographic service area and preferred travel radius.
• Balance of mobile and telehealth services.
• Client age groups and clinical areas.
• Types and volume of referrals they wish to accept.

There are no set hours or guaranteed minimum caseload. Contractors retain the discretion to accept or decline individual referrals according to their availability, location, expertise and scope of practice.

Service Delivery

Telehealth Services

Contractors can provide telehealth assessments and intervention to clients throughout Australia, including people living in regional and remote communities where access to local allied health services may be limited.

Telehealth services may be delivered from the contractor’s home or private office using suitable technology and a confidential workspace.

Mobile Services

Where suitable referrals are available, contractors can provide face-to-face appointments in and around their own location. Services may be delivered in:

• Clients’ homes.
• Schools and early childhood settings.
• Supported accommodation.
• Residential aged care facilities.
• Community facilities.
• Other appropriate community-based environments.

Contractors can nominate the suburbs, towns or regions they are willing to service and their preferred travel radius.

Types of Work Available

Depending on your qualifications, experience and scope of practice, referrals may include:

• Speech and language assessments.
• Receptive and expressive language intervention.
• Speech sound assessment and therapy.
• Social communication support.
• Fluency assessment and intervention.
• Literacy assessment and intervention.
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication assessments and support.
• Functional communication assessments.
• Communication-related assistive technology assessments.
• Mealtime, feeding and swallowing assessments.
• Paediatric and adult speech pathology.
• Capacity-building and ongoing therapy.
• Clinical reports, progress reports and letters of recommendation.
• Collaboration with families, carers, educators, support coordinators and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, person-centred speech pathology assessments.
• Identify each client’s communication strengths, functional needs and support requirements.
• Develop individualised, evidence-based intervention plans and recommendations.
• Deliver respectful, neuroaffirming and goal-directed therapy.
• Recommend and implement appropriate communication strategies and AAC systems.
• Provide feeding and swallowing services only when appropriately qualified and competent.
• Prepare clear, accurate and clinically justified reports within agreed timeframes.
• Maintain timely case notes and clinical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with clients and relevant stakeholders.
• Practise in accordance with professional, ethical and legislative requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and safeguarding obligations.

Contractor Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology.
• Current membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
• Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status, or eligibility to obtain it.
• An active Australian Business Number.
• Appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
• Relevant speech pathology assessment, intervention and report-writing experience.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Working with Children Check where providing services to children.
• A current Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle for mobile work.
• Strong written communication, clinical reasoning and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage accepted referrals and deadlines.
• Reliable internet access, suitable technology and a private workspace for telehealth services.
